Served with sugar and butter, syrup (best with maple), jam, nutella or other sweet condiments. Also really good cold with ice cream in then for dessert. Well-suited for ‘special’ breakfasts, sweet snacks and desserts.

I'll be honest, the first iteration of this cocktail recipe was good, but I had a lot of refining to do in order to make this a satisfying drink that you can make and enjoy on a regular basis. I think I've gotten pretty darn close to perfect on this one, if by perfect I mean "what I was trying to accomplish" which, in this case, I do!

This is a simple dish, again, Danish *cue the fanfare* that my grandmother always makes for me. It's really simple, tastes great, and isn't particularly expansive or something. It could be pretty good with holiday leftovers, so I thought I'd post it here. It's a very general recipe that you can make in many different ways by changing the vegetables, meat or sauce/broth you pour over it. It can be done vegetarian, bit then it's called brasekartofler, or at least a variation of it. Try pronouncing those two words ;)

This is a recipe, not sure of the origin, that comes from the same red recipe book as discussed previously. It's a type of shortbread without egg that is brushed with milk and sprinkled with rough sugar and chopped almonds. The edition shown is without the almonds, but you get the picture.

This is an originally Tamil soup that contains a lot of vegetables, coconut milk and rice and so is almost a stew. It's a bit complicated, and it takes a log time, but it's great for reheating and is great for one of those things you leave stewing all afternoon.

These are some cookies we've always done in my family called Jødekager. That would be Jew Cakes in English, but I didn't name them, okay? It's basically shortbread with cinnamon. It's pretty much lifted from an old recipe in this ancient cookbook passed down from my great-grandmother with a few family touches, so I guess it's a secret family recipe.

Most cooking sites and food blogs tend to favor elaborate recipes that requires a lot of skill, some luck and hard to find ingredients. As a home cook, I know how difficult it can be to find simple meals that you can easily prepare for your family on a daily basis. Because of this we get caught in a rut of making the same meals over and over, or worse relying on frozen and packaged foods to keep our family fed.

The goal of Cooking Skillups is to give us normal home cooks a place to share recipes, ideas and experiences; as well as successes and even failures. So together we can help each other figure out new, cost effective and delicious ways to bring joy to our dinner tables.
